Organic marketing is easier to judge when you understand how it works. These guides are written for HVAC owners who want to make the decision themselves, with their own numbers, before talking to any agency, including us. Each one is long because the subject needs it, and each ends with practical next steps.

The Google Business Profile checklist for HVAC companies
A complete, accurate and active Google Business Profile is the fastest organic win most HVAC companies have. Work through this checklist in order, and fix the risky items first.
-
The first 12 months of HVAC SEO, month by month
Organic growth for an HVAC company follows a fairly predictable shape: two months of fixing, a few months of slow gains, then faster growth from roughly month six. Planning around that shape avoids most disappointment.

Organic versus paid HVAC leads: how to do the maths
Organic leads aren't free, but their cost per booked job falls over time while paid leads stay at auction price. This guide shows how to calculate the break-even point with your own numbers.
Organic versus paid HVAC leads: the maths
Organic versus paid HVAC leads shows how to compare paying for clicks with investing in search rankings. It walks through:
- finding your real cost per booked job from ads, including management fees
- valuing a booked job by gross profit, not revenue
- modelling the overlap months, when you pay for both
- a simple break-even formula: monthly organic cost divided by gross profit per job
Read it first if you are deciding whether organic work is worth the money. The worked example uses round, illustrative numbers you can replace with your own.
The first 12 months of HVAC SEO
The 12-month HVAC SEO timeline explains what usually happens in each phase of a first year:
- months 1–2: fixing access, tracking, technical problems and the profile
- months 3–5: service pages and the first ranking movement
- months 6–9: compounding growth and the first ad cuts
- months 10–12: putting effort where the data points
It also shows how your start month interacts with Canada's heating and cooling seasons, and which early signals tell you the plan is working before rankings do.
The Google Business Profile checklist
The Google Business Profile checklist for HVAC companies is the most hands-on of the three. It goes through the profile in the order we fix it:
- the risky items that can get a listing suspended
- categories and services
- contact details and hours
- photos
- an honest review routine that follows Canadian rules
- posts and seasonal activity
- monthly maintenance
It cites Google's own guidelines and the relevant Canadian rules on commercial messages and misleading claims, so you can check every point yourself.
How the guides fit together
The three guides follow the order of a sensible decision:
| Question | Guide |
|---|---|
| Does organic work pay in my business? | Organic vs paid maths |
| How long will it take, and what should I see? | 12-month timeline |
| What can I fix myself this week? | GBP checklist |
If you'd rather we handle the work, the services overview explains what each service includes, and the results page shows what organic work has produced for real HVAC companies. For questions the guides don't answer, see the FAQ or call, text or email us.
Who these guides are written for
The guides assume you run, or help run, a heating and cooling company in Canada with at least a basic website and a Google Business Profile. They work for a two-person shop selling furnace replacements in a prairie town as well as a multi-truck company covering a large metro, although the bigger the market, the more competition you'll face for each search.
They don't assume any technical knowledge. Where a term matters, such as "indexing", "impressions" or "primary category", it is explained where it first appears. If you hand them to an office manager, they should be able to follow along and report back.
Each guide also works as a briefing document. If you already have an agency, send them the relevant guide and ask how their plan compares.
A note on accuracy
Everything in these guides is based on our own HVAC work, on approved case-study results, or on official sources linked in the text. Google's guidelines and Canadian programs change, so we date every guide and recommend you check the linked sources before acting on anything time-sensitive. We are a marketing and consulting service, not an HVAC contractor, and nothing here is technical, legal or compliance advice.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to hire anyone to use these guides?
No. Each guide is written so an owner or office manager can act on it alone. The Google Business Profile checklist in particular can be worked through in an afternoon.
How often are the guides updated?
We review them when Google changes its guidance or when a program we mention changes. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
Which guide should I read first?
If you are deciding whether to invest in organic work at all, start with the maths guide. If you've already decided, start with the Google Business Profile checklist, because it is the quickest win.
