Google Business Profile and map-pack work for HVAC companies

For no-heat and no-cooling emergencies, the map pack decides who gets the call. We make your Google Business Profile accurate, complete and active, inside Google's own rules.

Your Google Business Profile is the free listing that appears in Google Maps and in the map results at the top of local searches. For an HVAC company it is often the single most valuable organic asset, because a homeowner with no heat at 9 p.m. tends to call one of the first three companies on the map. We manage that profile so it is accurate, complete and steadily active.

What it is

Map-pack visibility depends on three things Google weighs together: how relevant your profile is to the search, how close you are to the searcher, and how prominent your business appears from reviews, links and activity. You can't move your shop, but you can control relevance and prominence.

Relevance comes from the right categories, services and description. Prominence comes from reviews, photos, and a website that backs up what the profile says. Our work covers both, within Google's guidelines for representing your business.

Who it suits

Nearly every HVAC company benefits, but the gains are largest for:

  • companies that sell emergency repair, where calls are decided in minutes
  • service-area businesses run from a home or yard, which are often set up wrongly
  • firms that took over a profile from a previous owner or agency and never cleaned it up
  • companies with many old reviews and few recent ones

What's included

  1. Profile audit. Name, categories, service area, hours, phone, website link, services list, photos, and any duplicate or unverified listings.
  2. Category set-up. Google asks for as few categories as possible, chosen to complete the sentence "this business is a…". For most HVAC firms that means a specific primary category and a short list of secondaries, not every service you offer.
  3. Service area and address. Service-area businesses hide the address and list the towns they serve; storefront businesses show it. Getting this wrong is a common suspension trigger.
  4. Review routine. A simple, honest ask after every completed job, by text or email from your own system, plus prompt, polite replies to every review.
  5. Photos and posts. Real job photos, crew and vehicle photos, and a short post every week or two about seasonal work.
  6. Website alignment. Your website's service and area pages must match what the profile claims. We link the two through organic SEO.

Timeline

  • Week 1: audit, access, and fixes to anything that breaks the guidelines.
  • Weeks 2–4: categories, services, description, photos and the review routine.
  • Months 2–3: weekly activity, review replies, and first measurable change in map calls.
  • Ongoing: monthly checks, because profiles get edited by Google and by the public.

How results are measured

We track calls, website clicks and direction requests from the profile, and we watch your map position for a short list of searches from several points across your service area, because map results change from one street to the next. Each monthly report shows those numbers beside the reviews gained and the changes made.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Keyword-stuffed business names. "ABC Heating Furnace Repair Toronto" breaks the name rules and invites suspension.
  • A visible home address. It can trigger a review of the listing and exposes your family's address.
  • Buying or gating reviews. Paying for reviews, writing them yourself, or only asking customers you know are happy are deceptive. In Canada, misleading representations fall under the Competition Act, enforced by the Competition Bureau. Google can also remove reviews and penalise the listing.
  • Unsupported "eco" claims in posts. Words like "green" or "zero-emission" in your profile posts are marketing claims and need to be true and supportable.
  • Set-and-forget. A profile with no new photos or reviews for a year looks closed, to Google and to homeowners.

Frequently asked questions

Should I add keywords like 'Furnace Repair' to my business name?

No. Google's guidelines say your profile name should match your real-world business name, and adding unnecessary information can get a profile suspended. It is one of the fastest ways to lose a listing.

We run the business from home. Should our address show?

Generally not. Google's guidelines say service-area businesses should hide their address from customers and set a service area instead. We set this up correctly and check it stays that way.

How many reviews do we need?

There is no magic number. A steady flow of recent, genuine reviews matters more than a big total from years ago. We build a routine that asks every satisfied customer, never filters out unhappy ones, and never pays for reviews.

Can you get our suspended profile back?

We can help you prepare a reinstatement request with the right evidence, but Google makes the decision. The better answer is to avoid suspension in the first place by following the guidelines.
