Organic SEO is the work that gets your website ranking for searches such as "boiler repair Hamilton" or "heat pump installation Kelowna", without paying for each click. For an HVAC company it comes down to three jobs: make the site easy for Google to read, give every service its own strong page, and prove you really serve the towns you claim.
What it is
HVAC SEO is the process of matching your website to the way homeowners search for heating and cooling help. People don't search for "HVAC solutions". They search for the problem ("furnace blowing cold air"), the product ("combi boiler"), or the job ("AC replacement cost") plus a place.
A typical HVAC website we audit has one services page, a contact page and a gallery. That gives Google almost nothing to match. A site built for organic search has a page for each service you want to sell, a page for each town you can serve well, and supporting content that answers the questions in between.
Who it suits
This service fits HVAC companies that:
- have a website that mostly ranks for its own company name
- want more replacement and installation work, not only repair calls
- are paying for ads on searches they could reasonably rank for
- serve a defined area and can describe it honestly
It is a poor fit if you need calls next week. SEO can't do that; a Google Business Profile clean-up responds faster, and short-term ads may be the honest answer while SEO builds.
What's included
- Technical audit and fixes. Speed, mobile layout, broken links, duplicate pages, indexing problems and the structured data Google uses to understand a local business.
- Service architecture. One page per core service (furnace installation, boiler service, heat pump installation, AC repair and so on), each with real detail: what the job involves, how long it takes, typical questions, and photos of your own work.
- City and area pages. Written only for towns you serve, with local context such as housing age, common heating fuels and travel times.
- Internal linking. Every page links to the pages it supports, so Google can tell which ones matter most.
- Search Console and call tracking. So we can see which searches and pages produce calls, not just visits.
- Monthly reporting. Rankings, traffic, calls and what we changed, in plain language.
Timeline
| Period | What happens |
|---|---|
| Weeks 1–4 | Audit, access, keyword map, technical fixes |
| Months 2–3 | Core service pages rewritten or created |
| Months 3–6 | City pages, internal links, first ranking gains |
| Months 6–12 | Expansion into the services and towns that convert best |
The full month-by-month picture, including the quiet early months, is in our 12-month HVAC SEO timeline.
How results are measured
We measure SEO by calls and booked jobs, not by rankings alone. A first-place ranking for a search nobody makes is worthless; a fifth-place ranking for "boiler replacement" in a busy city can be worth a lot.
Each month we report:
- organic sessions and the pages that earned them
- calls and texts from organic visitors (through call tracking)
- ranking movement for the 20 to 40 searches that matter most to you
- what we changed, and what we plan next
If you also track booked jobs in your CRM, we connect the two so you can see revenue from organic search directly.
Mistakes to avoid
- Copy-paste city pages. Thirty pages that differ only by town name are a classic thin-content pattern. Google's guidance on people-first content warns against mass-producing pages without adding value.
- Chasing national keywords. "What is a heat pump" brings traffic from across the continent and very few calls. Local, job-specific searches pay better.
- Rebuilding the site and losing the old URLs. A redesign without redirects can wipe out years of rankings in a week.
- Writing for Google instead of homeowners. Pages stuffed with keywords read badly and convert badly.
- Stopping at month four. The early months build the base; most of the return arrives later.

Frequently asked questions
How long does HVAC SEO take to work?
Expect early movement in two to four months and meaningful call growth in six to twelve, depending on competition and how weak the starting site is. Roma Heating & Cooling reached 400% organic traffic growth in 12 months.
Should I have a page for every city I serve?
Only for towns where you really work and can say something specific. A page that swaps one town name for another is thin content and can hurt the whole site. We write city pages with local detail or we don't write them.
What do you need from us?
Access to your website and Google Search Console, a list of services and towns, photos of real jobs, and about an hour a month from someone who can check technical accuracy.
Do you own the website after the work?
No, you do. The domain, the content and the accounts stay in your name. If you leave, you keep everything we built.
